He has combined his many interests in this volume and its quality is heralded by his excellent introduction, one in which he sensitively dissects the many possible meanings of each word in his title, "American", "gay" and "autobiography". This book hits a homerun with this reader!. Mariano. I had to continue to tell myself this was one person telling of his personal accounts and how even in his writings Walker explained on many occasions that he was a lone light in an otherwise dark world.
