one of the best historical novels i have ever read. The irony of the story, is that the (path of ) marriage is hard to reach for her granddaughter Deepa since Deepa is born gay. And for the Kindle price, that's fine.As far as the stories go, like I said, they are pretty short. Of the writing, of the depth of the mythology he has created here, at the sheer stunning emotional resonance of the people that inhabit that world. You seriously can't put this book down, you'll read it in one sitting it's that good!. And although a good idea, it isn't necessary if you take heed to what the author says in the beginning; that you should commit to memory the essential fundamentals of first-order and second-order systems so that you instill in your mind an intuitive feel for these things. It has a clear thesis, our "illusion of control" -- that more of life than we realize is outside our control, and that being more realistic about this fact, while at first sight psychologically unsettling, in fact increases the "genuine control" we have over our lives. Ofcourse, it has a happy ending, but not for that gator, who ends up in a sauce piquante. If you have never read anything by Anne McCaffrey, do yourself a favor and read these books.
