I love Aaliyah and Dominic's story. This little novel doesn't rise to that level, but is great fun, nonetheless. I didn't want to use it. Tinker, an orphan boy in the circus she befriends, was by far my favorite oh the trouble they could cause together, I really hope he is in the next book. Mrs. Anyone with a keen sense of smell and a creative mind for fragrances would enjoy this book. Mand and Little Miss books when I was a kid. It gave me a springboard from which to go in my mind and begin to think in a new way about the things that have happened in my life. Where this book earns its keep is when it goes into areas I haven't seen covered in any other book. The Montanesca checked references "for all new vacationers." The Spruce Cabin Inn in Canadensis was the first "to serve liquor," and The Farm on the Hill was the first inn that "welcomed honeymoon couples." Unfortunately many of these places were destroyed by fire, demolished to make way for modern day buildings or converted to private homes or apartments. He is simply the story, and the people around him--a faithful friend and advisor, a wife, a brother--serve as the humanity. Also, he reminds us that, ” …nearly all of us are products of an extraction-based past that has ravaged the earth.” Yet, he realizes that we must forgive, and we must compromise, and he sees a dilemma.
