Did you know as many as 10% of the people in the US may be alcohol or other drug addicts? Because the addictive use of a drug (almost always alcohol) causes brain damage, particularly to the more recently evolved part of our brain responsible for reason and empathy, a relationship or encounter with an addict is far more likely to hurt us in some way than an experience with a normal person. and Miss Books.
